1/160 2001 Space Clipper Orion
With no computer-generated imagery available in the 1960s, the exterior of Orion seen in the film is always a physical model about 44 inches (111 centimeters) long. The model had no lights or interior. The scene visible in the windows of the passenger cabin was composited in optically. In most of the handful of shots in which Orion appears, the space plane is a still photo re-photographed on an animation stand. Only when the Orion is shown matching its rotation to the space station is the model filmed in motion.

As streamlined, needle-like design ensures smooth atmospheric flight capability, while precise, computer assisted navigation control allows mathematically complex docking and landing operations.
Moebius Models styrene kit of the The Orion III is an authentic recreation of the classic kit which was first released in 1968. The kit is nearly 15" long assembled. Kit also includes a display stand and detailed panel decals. Cement and paint required for assembly - sold separately.
